Fig + Sage Casts Vote for Maddy's

For over a year we've gone to Fig + Sage's website to look for eco-friendly products for babies and moms. So we were very excited to see an independent review of Maddy's Organic Meals.

Well the ballot has been cast and it seems no recount is needed...

"Recently I learned of an emerging brand of first baby foods that is based in Chicago. They are called Maddy's Organic Meals and they take organic baby food to a whole other level .... The food is procured at the peak of harvest and then flash-frozen, to ensure the most flavor and nutrients (things you don't want to skimp on when it comes to introducing food for the first time.)....In my opinion, M.O.M. has the best options of flavors of any other organic baby food line."

Click Here to see Fig + Sage's complete review of M.O.M.

This site is an amazing resource for finding the best (and coolest) organic and environmentally conscious products -- from organic baby clothes, to organic baby skincare, to soaps, to cosmetics for mom, to eco-fashion-- with a long list of links to great resources as well as discounts and coupons.

Chicago Magazine Says Eat Organic with M.O.M.

With the care and tending of children, parents realize, come huge new responsibilities—and a mountain of stuff. Be greener with these ten tips, some for your kids and their health and some for the good of the earth. Click here.

Our (not so) Secret Process

Our commitment to using certified organic ingredients from the Midwest's best farmers was recently highlighted by registered dietitian David Feder in an article for FoodProcessing.com:

"Maddy’s Organic Meals, Chicago, goes for a more targeted range in its version of the three-life-stage approach. Formulating for ages 4 months, 6 months and 8 months, the company also changes textures and flavor complexities accordingly for its organic, flash-frozen meals without preservatives, fillers or additives.

Using the amusing acronym of “M.O.M.,” Maddy’s uses ingredients grown “in the heartland,” on Midwestern, certified-organic farms practicing pesticide-free, sustainable farming methods."

Our NEW Packaging!!!

We are so proud to announce our new packaging! Now parents can easily mix and match the Midwest First Certified Organic baby food with our BPA free and 100% recyclable cups.

Each recyclable cup contains 4 ounces (2 servings) of our scrumptious USDA Certified Organic frozen baby food. Perfect for travel and families on the go.

Located on the bottom of each cup is an individual “lot number” that connects your baby's meal back to the Heartland's very best organic farmers. This organic integrity system enables us to track your baby's food all the way back our farmers and their fields (like Farmer Tom).

Look for our new packaging at our grocery stores and this summer's farmers' markets. For those in the Chicagoland area, you can also contact us to get M.O.M. delivered right to your door!

And remember M.O.M. ships coast to coast... and with our new packaging, it's even easier!

Thanks,
Dori and Maddy

Visiting Farmer Tom

We are so proud to be working with the Heartland's best organic farmers. Let me introduce you to Farmer Tom Rosenfeld from Earth First Farms. We spent a lovely fall day visiting Farmer Tom at his annual Harvest Party in Berrien Center, Michigan. Nothing compares to tasting an organic apple straight from the tree.

We sampled Paula Reds, Empires, Jonagolds... not to mention homemade apple pie and cider. Farmer Tom supplies us with the stock of our apples. You can taste his delectable apples in our Sweet Fall Lentil, Apple and Pears Oh My, Appley Ever After and Sweet Potato & Apple. Are you hungry yet?

One of the most encouraging things people told us was that Maddy's Organic Meals one the only commcerial baby food to use FRESH ingredients (most use frozen product). That made our day!
